H
eart of Portugal is located in the heart of Mineola. The atmosphere in the spacious dining room is relaxing, but far from subdued. Enjoy the complimentary Portuguese breads and potato chips while you peruse the menu. It features many seafood dishes, some meat dishes, and a variety of specials. You will also find items not typically found at other restaurants, like rabbit, snails, and goat. Order a pitcher or two of sangria for the table. The waiters are friendly and very attentive. Portions are generous. Though slightly overcooked, the dish I ordered, monk fish prepared paella-style -- a special, was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Don't forget dessert. The creme brulee is just right -- sweet and creamy with a crunchy top.
